The website launching ceremony was attended by community leaders, church leaders, government officials and media persons, besides the well-known crooners of town Launching the web edition of Huihchim, Dr Gin Gangte, IIS , Field Exhibition Officer, DAVP, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Imphal exhorted the editor and his team to strive for excellence in journalism. Maintaining that media has become a part of everyday’s life, Dr Gin Gangte outlined in brief the history of journalism in Gangte community. With a view of information the public about the daily happenings in their own dialect, Zingsol – a magazine in Gangte was started way back in 1952, he said. Saying that ‘information is power’, Dr Gin Gangte calls upon the public to be in touch with various forms of mass media in today’s world. Huihchim (monthly magazine in Gangte language) goes global Coinciding with one year of publication, an anniversary issue of Huihchim magazine was released by S Thienlaljoy Gangte, MCS, SDO/Thanlon. The young MCS officer, appreciating the efforts of Huihchim magazine exhorted the gathering not only to buy it, but also to read it page after page. Quoting the quotable quote “knowledge is power”, the SDO calls upon one and all to develop the habit of reading. Punctuated by deeply inspiring songs from budding artists such as Tracy Ngaihching, Nunthar & Jerry K Bieklien, the celebration was lively and kicking all though the session. The journey of one year of Huihchim was also narrated by editor Raymond Gangte. The first issue of Huihchim magazine hits the stand in August 2012.
